Still slams decision to uphold Robinson red

Town boss John Still has slammed the decision to uphold Matt Robinson’s red card.

The midfielder was dismissed late on against Shrewsbury Town at the weekend, but after viewing the incident, Hatters opted to appeal.

However, despite television appearing to back up their claims, the appeal failed and Robinson will now miss three games.

On the decision, Still said: “Not in a million years for me. You can’t put one challenge against another, but when you see the challenge on Luke Guttridge when he came off injured, it wasn’t even a booking and that was far worse than the challenge Matt Robinson did.

“That wasn’t my opinion, because I always do the same thing, I give it to people in the club and we have a consensus of opinion.

“No-one at the club felt that it warranted anything more than a booking at worse.

“At the time i thought it was (a red card), but when I saw it I was quite shocked over how innocuous it was.”

Robinson himself tweeted: “Can’t say I’m not disappointed with the decision.

“For me it’s never been a red. Then again it’s not me who makes the decision.

“Onto the next game and hopefully the lads can get the result we need.

“That’s the most important thing right now.”

Although Robinson is now missing for Town’s home game with Plymouth this weekend, which is broadcast live on Sky, there was good news for the rest of Still’s squad.

He added: “(Andy) “Drury should be fit Saturday. Luke Guttridge is fine, it was just a whack on his toe and he lost the feeling in it for a bit.

“Scott (Griffiths) will train on Thursday. He trained with fitness coach on Tuesday and will join in with us on Thursday.”
