Still: Town priced out of Keanu deal for now

The 22-year-old had missed the Conference trip to Southport at the weekend after the Bees considered a number of offers.

However, he remained a Barnet player when the window closed and Still felt that was down to an unrealistic valuation placed on him.

Speaking exclusively to the News/Gazette, he said: “It’s something that I spoke to the chairman about, but I think as has shown with other clubs that were interested in him, the value of him is too high.

“It’s too high for a Championship club and didn’t represent any value.

“There were other clubs that were possibly interested in this situation, and obviously they didn’t think it was the right value. We didn’t think by a long way is the right value.”

Marsh-Brown finished last campaign with 11 goals to his name, while he has already scored twice for the Bees this term.

With the loan window open next week, Still didn’t rule out making another approach.

He continued: “That’s not to say that won’t be revisited when the loan window re-opens and see if something can’t be worked out then.

“Because what’s happened a little bit to Barnet, in this situation, is that his value has gone down now.

“In January, which is not that far until the end of the season, will people pay that money?

“They wouldn’t pay it now, so they won’t pay it in January.

“So if that gets left, it’s almost a free transfer then.”

It wasn’t just Marsh-Brown who had interested Still either as he said: “We talked about a few players, but they never came to fruition.

“So it really was a case of leave it alone and when the loan window opens, maybe revisit it, with a loan until the window opens and then doing a deal.

“But we couldn’t get who we wanted, so in the end, I didn’t want to get anyone as I know the type that I want.

“We have (Alex) Lawless back in training now, Jonathan Smith I think by the end of this week will be back in training, Shaun Whalley will be back as well.

“They’re the type of players that we’re looking for, so to get just anyone in wasn’t the case.”

Ricky Miller and Solomon Taiwo left Kenilworth Road to join Conference side Dover Athletic on loan, while Still admitted there had been another approach as he added: “We had a little bit of interest in one player, but we weren’t interested in that.

“It’s a good step up for Ricky as he was playing Conference North last year, now he’s playing in the Conference

“Solomon needs to get out on loan as he needs to find a home. So lets hope he goes there, does well and something works out for him.”
