Still unfazed by Hatters’ TV nightmares

Luton have won just one of their previous six games broadcast live, that against Barnet on New Year’s Day last season, with defeats to Plymouth Argyle this term, plus Braintree Town, Wrexham and Woking last season, while they were also held 0-0 by Grimsby too.

But Still said: “There is a good reason we lost those games, as we weren’t good enough to win.

“Things like that never bother me, whether we played good, bad or indifferent, we lost.

“Does that have any bearing on us? Not at all. Does TV being involved make any difference to us? Does it make it any different to the player? No. Does it make us play better? No.

“If we’re good enough and we play well enough, we give ourselves a chance to win. If we don’t play very well, we wont give ourselves the best chance.

“I’m not superstitious, I don’t worry about anything like that.”

Hatters turned in one of their poorest displays of the season as they were beaten 2-0 by the Shrews back in August, but Still didn’t feel tonight’s opponents were the best he has seen in the division so far.

He continued: “Bury were the best team that I’d seen, that’s not to say they’re the best team now, but they were the best team I’d seen.

“But the way I always look at it, the best team is top of the league.

“Shrewsbury played very well against us, but that said we weren’t quite settled at that particular time.

“We know from playing there that they’re a very good side. Their form has been good, so I think it’s a super, super game.

“Two teams that I think would be in the top half of the table at the end of the season, both up there fighting away now, so it will be a good game.”

New striker Jayden Stockley is also looking forward to his first taste of Kenilworth Road as a Luton player tonight as he added: “Shrewsbury are a good side, so it will be good to get out there and hear the fans.

“I know they’re brilliant, I know they make it a good atmosphere, so hopefully it will be the first of a few good performances.”
