Still urges his Hatters side to cut out their errors

Town’s start to the League Two campaign has been blighted with individual mistakes as they have failed to keep a clean sheet yet, throwing away 2-0 leads on two occasions, taking just two points from a possible 12.

Still said: “We’ve had one or two players, or more than that, who have made errors and think that’s been one of the causes that we haven’t seen games out.

“If you make mistakes in games and continue to make them, it drags you down a bit and I felt that happened a little bit on Saturday.

“Because I did feel at half time, even at 2-1, that we weren’t in any danger, but this is football and things turn quickly for you and against you.

“The crazy thing is when we were playing the three centre halves, they were our three best players, yet we were conceding goals.

“Errors can come from other people, they don’t necessarily have to come from them. You need something in front of you and we lacked a bit of that on Saturday.

“The previous game was a last minute goal, two goals against Oxford, one was a deflection and a goalkeeping mistake and we did stats about saves Tyles (Mark Tyler) had to make Saturday and he didn’t have to make any

“We weren’t being bombarded, it’s that individual error that is a problem. If it was a collective thing, you’d know the amount of time you have to work on the training ground, but when we work on the training ground, it’s perfect, I know it sounds soppy, but it is.

“It’s hard to coach individual errors, but we’ll just go back to doing what we always do which is work hard on the training ground and try to work hard on the pitch.

“We’ve got to cut the errors out as none of my teams have ever been ones that concede goals.”

Despite the poor start to a season in where Hatters were expected to mount a serious promotion charge, Still didn’t feel the spirit within the camp had been affected.

He added: “Out on the training ground we haven’t really noticed spirit-wise, things being different.

“We’ve probably got more experience in our squad this year which would help that and most players, if not all players, have seen it before.

“I don’t believe in luck, we had a deflected goal the other day, then one came off of Paddy McCourt that put the fella straight through (against Yeovil).

“It’s difficult to take sometimes, but when it’s not working for you, it doesn’t work for you, so you have to work harder to get out of it.

“It’s four games though, four games and it isn’t the affect it has on you, it’s how you react to that affect.”
