Still wants Hatters to go all out in play-off bid

The Hatters host Stevenage in need of a victory and seventh-placed Plymouth Argyle to suffer defeat at title chasing Shrewsbury, plus an eight goal swing in their favour as well, if they are to leapfrog the Devon side.

On their approach to the match, Still said: “I don’t think you go silly, but we’ve got to put the emphasis on attacking, absolutely

“You’ve got to do it structured, you can’t do it unstructured, but we’ll go out and give it a go and see where it goes.

“If we were fortunate enough to get in front by a couple, or something like that, maybe the last 20 minutes you might go gung-ho, but we’ll see.

“I want to try and be entertaining and attacking and come off winning or losing where everyone looks at it and goes, we had to get that amount of goals, we tried, it hasn’t quite worked but we’ve had a right go at it.

“Or isn’t it fantastic, it has has worked, that’s because we had a go. So we’ll have a go on Saturday and hopefully end the season positively.

“Disappointed maybe too, but in a stronger position that we were in at the start of the season, for knowing that we competed in this league, knowing we’ve gone close in this league and knowing what we’ve got to do to try and push on and find the next step.”

Although some bookmakers have priced Luton at 66/1 to reach the top seven, Still once again pointed to his own personal history of such a huge result being possible.

He added: “I wouldn’t know what the odds are but they would be stacked against us.

“It’s not impossible though and as a manager I have to believe that things can happen. I don’t know how many years ago, but we (Dagenham & Redbridge) broke the record in the play-offs and won 6-0 against a Morecambe side that were higher in the play-offs than we were.

“So from that point of view, it is possible, but is it likely? I don’t really know. All we can do is go out and see what we can do.”

Midfielder Cameron McGeehan could be a surprise inclusion after elbow injury isn’t as bad as first feared, while Still will keep faith with Elliot Justham despite his error at Southend last week.

He added: “One hundred per cent, Elliot Justham would play Saturday.

“He’s (McGeehan) trained today, it’s (his elbow) sore, but we can probably get away with that.

“We’ve got (Mark) Tyler who was on the bench on Saturday, we won’t use him this Saturday, but other than that we’re all right.”
