Still said: “Our form has been good, I would like to look back in six, seven, eight, nine, 10 games and go that was a blip, but I’ll have to wait until I can say that.

“Attack-wise we look like we can score and looks like we’re getting better in that department as we’ve scored consistently just lately as I think we have goals now right across the front four.”

Newport are yet to win at home this season, having picked up four draws and five defeats, so the Luton chief is aware the importance of keeping things tight early on.

He continued: “Whenever you go away you want to quieten the crowd, that’s the objective, quieten the crowd and work your way gently into it if you like.

“All games are different, they might start particularly quick, but as an away side you go if you get to half time not conceding a goal, you always think you’ve got a chance.

“Defenders have got to do their job and make sure we’re solid, but when you play away if you can keep them quiet for 20 minutes, half hour, sometimes you get a little bit of ascendancy after that.”

Former Plymouth and Chesterfield boss John Sheridan was appointed as the Exiles new manager in October after former England international Terry Butcher was relieved of his duties.

Still added: “John is a knowledgeable person, he’s a good manager, I actually think Terry Butcher would have pulled it around as well.

“I saw them once, they weren’t bad. They were unfortunate in the game I saw, got beat by two deflections, but a new manager coming in can sometimes have that short term then normality can kick on.

“We can expect them to be tough and organised and to make it hard for us.

“He’s come in and done a good job John, he got a good draw in the week at Oxford.

“The games are tough but when we’re good we’re good and we’ve been getting good. We were good the other night other than 20 minutes.

“We’ve shown we can score and shown we can play and shown we can defend, but you’ve got to do it in the same game, at the same time on a consistent basis.”
