Still will resist temptation to recall Angol

Town boss John Still will resist the temptation to recall striker Lee Angol from his prolific spell at Boreham Wood.

The 20-year-old scored a hat-trick as his side beat Stevenage 5-3 in the Herts Senior Cup last week and is currently the top scorer in Conference South with 19 goals.

On Angol, who joined Luton after being released by Wycombe in the summer, Still said: “He’s done very well, but when we took Lee, he was at Boreham Wood, on loan from Wycombe.

“This was the best way of securing him as he wanted to play and I’m not sure he would have come here not to play.

“So we worked out a deal with them where he would play this season.”

Although Angol is topping the scoring charts, Still pointed to the impact of fellow summer signing Ricky Miller, who netted 24 goals for Boston United in Conference North last term.

Miller and fellow summer signing Charlie Walker have been restricted to substitute appearances recently, but Still can see similarities with how the pair and Angol are progressing, to Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, who the Luton boss signed when at former club Dagenham.
