Luton boss Nathan Jones is keen to help defender Brendan Galloway find a new club during the January transfer window.

The former Everton youngster has had an injury-hit spell at Kenilworth Road after joining last summer under previous manager Graeme Jones.

He played five times last term before suffering a serious knee injury against Brentford in November 2019, and has only played once since, that coming in the FA Cup earlier this month.

Galloway, 24, was heavily linked with a move to Shrewsbury this week, although nothing has been confirmed yet, but with the full back a free agent in the summer, and a new deal not on the table at Kenilworth Road, Jones said: “We’re keen for Brendan to find a club because at the minute there’s a few ahead of him.

"What we wouldn’t want to do is hang Brendan out to dry, keep him around and not use him and then he’s in the merry-go-round come June, because it will be a difficult market in June.

"So we advised him and he’s of the same mindset, he wants to go out and get games and to put himself in the shop window to try and earn a contract for next year.”

One player who did leave the club this week, albeit on a temporary basis, was fellow defender Gabriel Osho, who will spend the rest of the season with League One Rochdale.

Jones added: "We really thought long and hard about it as I thought he was excellent against Reading.

"It’s just how much game time is he going to get immediately, coupled with the fact he could get anything from 15-24 games going out to Rochdale."
