Town decide against moves

HATTERS: Former Liverpool trainee Jon Routledge looks unlikely to join Luton as Town boss Gary Brabin can’t guarantee him first team football, writes Mark Wood.

The 22-year-old played 90 minutes as Hatters won 2-1 at Welsh Premier League side Airbus UK Broughton on their trip to North Wales.

On the Hamilton Academical midfielder, who has also made one Premier League appearance for Wigan Athletic, Brabin said: “I still speak to Jon Routledge every day, his dad’s a friend of mine. He is a young player I think has a promising future. I think he has an option of going back to Scotland and the one thing I can’t do is guarantee him regular football.”

And the Hatters have also dropped their interest in the two Spaniards who were on trial earlier in the pre-season and attended a ‘boot camp’ in Scotland with the squad.

Brabin added: “With the Spaniards we’ve decided not to progress that any further.”
