Town down to fifth after Newport victory

Luton Town dropped to fifth in League Two at the weekend after they were in FA Cup action at Cambridge United.

The Hatters were leapfrogged by Newport County who came from behind to defeat Carlisle 2-1 at home with goals from Adam Chapman and Lee Minshull.

Meanwhile, Luton fell five points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers as the Chairboys defeated Hartlepool 1-0 at Adams Park.

Second placed Burton also moved four points in front of Town thanks to a 1-0 triumph over Shrewsbury 1-0, which saw the Shrews drop to third.

Luton do have a game in hand on all of the top four now, and could climb to third if they beat Shrewsbury in front of the Sky cameras at Kenilworth Road on Thursday night.
