Forward Elijah Adebayo doesn’t think there’s anything stopping the Hatters from achieving the top 10 position that’s within their grasp this season.

A third win in four games, beating Bristol City 3-2 on Sunday, took Luton to 60 points and 11th place in the table, as they can now no longer finish any lower than 14th.

However, Adebayo, like manager Nathan Jones, is aiming higher than that, as a win over Middlesbrough on Saturday could take the Hatters into 10th, while they still have game in hand over the rest of the division, against Rotherham on Tuesday night, before finishing their campaign at QPR the following weekend.

This term has been a world away from last year, when Luton only stayed up on the final day, something Adebayo, who scored the equaliser at Ashton Gate, with his fifth since arriving from Walsall in February, couldn’t quite believe, as he said: “Since I’ve come in, I wouldn’t have thought they were battling relegation last season as the spirit and togetherness in the group is fantastic.

“You can see that from when we’re on the pitch, everyone’s rallying around, but we said 60 points and we’ll go on from there again.

“We want to finish as high as possible and I don’t think there’s anything stopping us really from finishing as high as possible.

“We’ve just got to keep going and keep taking scalps off teams.

“Some people say we've got nothing to play for, but in our minds, we've got loads to play for.

“We want to keep pushing up the table and keep fighting for a higher position and then who knows what’s going to happen next season?

“We just want to keep winning.

"Everyone loves winning a game of football, there's no better feeling than winning a game of football, so why not keep winning if you can?”
