Luton attacker James Collins was quick to praise substitute Jordan Clark for the major part he played in his 16-minute hat-trick during Saturday's 3-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday.

With 18 minutes to go and the scores goalless, the summer signing was called on to replace Harry Cornick, making his Town debut in the process.

Just seven minutes later, Clark found some space on the the right hand side, sending over a cross that fell to Pellr-Ruddock Mpanzu who was fouled for a penalty that Collins easily converted.

Kieran Dowell levelled instantly, only for Luton to go straight up the other end where Clark's cross was teed up by Mpanzu for Collins to make it 2-1 on the volley.

He then gained a bona fide assist in stoppage time, racing on to Mpanzu's dinked pass over the top and then unselfishly squaring to Collins who completed his fourth treble in a Luton shirt.

The striker said: “To be fair to him he’s put it (final goal) on a plate for me.

"I’ve played with Clicker before at Shrewsbury and he set up numerous goals for me there as well.

"So for him to pick me out without me having to break stride really, I’m really happy and credit to him as well.”

Clark had been at Accrington Stanley last season, Town snapping him up on a free transfer once his contract expired as he showed just why manager Nathan Jones had been so determined to get him.

The boss said: "That’s why we brought him here.

"We call them game changers and Harry had been a real threat all afternoon but Jordan adds real quality, a bit of variation in his crossing.

“He was involved in all three and that’s why we brought him to the club.

“We think he’s an excellent player, we went after him hard and we’re delighted."
