Town stopper linked with Sunderland move

GOALKEEPER Lewis Kidd has been linked with Premier League side Sunderland, write Mark Wood and Mike Simmonds.

The 18-year-old, who signed pro terms at Kenilworth Road at the end of last season, was named in the Sun’s Football Confidential column as interesting Black Cats manager Steve Bruce.

The Stadium of Light club have just added Republic of Ireland stopper Keiron Westwood to their ranks on a free transfer and already possess Scottish international Craig Gordon along with Belgian Simon Mignolet.

The speculation came as news to managing director Gary Sweet who hasn’t fielded any enquiries for the keeper.

He said: “He is a lad that’s just signed a new contract and is coming on well.”
