Lambert has represented England this season, scoring on his debut against Scotland last year, after playing in every domestic Football League division during his career.

Gray now wants to follow suit as he said: “(Playing for England) is a boyhood dream and another dream would be to do what Rickie Lambert did and go through the leagues, to end up playing for the first team.

“He’s set the standard for people like us in non-league to show that the dream is possible.”

Gray will win his sixth cap for the Three Lions when they travel to Jordan on March 4, while recent Town signing Fraser Franks has also been selected.
