Tyler faces late fitness test ahead of Bury trip

The 37-year-old has missed Luton’s last two matches with a knee injury as Elliot Justham has deputised.

Still said: “We’re not making a decision until tomorrow, but we’re not rushing that decision.

“We’ll give him as long as it takes, if not longer, because once again, Elliot’s come in and I can’t fault him, I really can’t.

“He’s waited a long while for his opportunity and doing the best he can to make the most of his opportunity.

“But Tyler’s done a bit of training today and we’ll look at him tomorrow before we leave.”

Justham performed well on his debut against AFC Wimbledon, where he was unfortunate to be on the end of a 3-2 scoreline.

He then kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Accrington on Saturday, making a vital save when the scores were goalless.

Still continued: “Players come in when others are injured or lose form, unfortunately for Elliot, Tyler has done neither.

“But that shows really the quality of the person, that he’s waited all this time for a start and hasn’t done anything wrong.

“He made a very good save early on Saturday and didn’t have too much to do after that.

“But you know when you look and they always look confident and composed, I think he radiated a little bit of that.

“There was another incident in the first half, which I’m not saying it was a great save or anything, but he came for a deep cross, got a touch and then went and picked it up.

“Now to lots of people that might be routine, but for someone that hasn’t been playing, it’s another decision to make. I thought he handled it very well as it’s completely different to a development game with concentration levels and everything.”

Skipper Steve McNulty will be available for the trip to Gigg Lane, but Still praised the performance of Fraser Franks alongside Luke Wilkinson on Saturday.

He said: “Steve’s got to wait to see if he’s selected yet, because the two centre halves did well Saturday, so we’ll wait and see on that, I’m not sure.

“Isn’t it good though? That’s exactly how it should be. The people that come in, give you a decision to make.

“If that didn’t happen, what would be the point of it? He (Franks) has played a few times with (Alex) Lacey and it was really difficult for those two to come into first team football together.

“It’s very unusual as well. Normally one’s out and one’s in and I think you saw the difference of playing with someone whose been around that scene all season and has been a good player for us.

“Fraser found it hard in the other games but he came in and has given me a decision to make which is fantastic.”

There was promising news for Town’s other injuries as apart from Nathan Doyle, Still almost has a fully fit squad to choose from.

He added: “Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu has trained today, that’s good, Alex Lawless has had another day, while Paul Benson has trained today.

“Alex Wall has trained, while Ryan Hall whose been out with a chest infection, he’s trained, so we’relooking like we’re getting a little bit closer to having the players available that we think can make a difference.”
