Tyler has no plans on calling it a day

The 37-year-old, who is now in his 20th year as a professional footballer, made his 250th appearance for the club, during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Burton.

Tyler became the 37th player in Town’s history to do so, but has no plans of calling it a day any time soon.

He said: “I’m fit, healthy, I’ve got a great backroom staff, Si (Simon Parsell), Daz (Darren Cook), Dave (Richardson) and the gaffer have been brilliant with me, so long may it continue.

“I’ll keep going until my body says no. It could be next week, it could be in four years time.

“I feel great and hopefully it’s not just this season, it will be two or three or maybe four years more.

“I want to play in League One next year, that’s our aim, we want to go as high as we can.”

After suffering from the odd back spasm a few seasons ago, Tyler has been a model of consistency since John Still took over and hasn’t missed a league game since April 16, 2013.

The former Peterborough stopper is now the fourth goalkeeper in Town’s appearance list behind Ron Baynham (434), Bernard Streten (299) and Les Sealey (259) and is closing in on his 750th first team game too.
