Luton U21s were beaten 2-1 by Birmingham City in a friendly on Saturday.

The visitors took a 17-man squad with them to face the Blues and although defeated, scored through a wonderful free kick from defender Corey Panter.

It was Birmingham who took the lead early on and despite Town battling well, they couldn't prevent their hosts adding another goal in the second half.

However, late on, Panter, who had loan spells with Hendon and Biggleswade Town last season, stepped up to curl his effort over the wall and give the City keeper no chance to reduce the deficit.

Hatters, who recently strengthened their U21 squad, with the signings of ex-Watford winger Dion Pereira, Crystal Palace wideman TQ Addy and former West Bromwich Albion attacking midfielder Jack Chambers, couldn't find an equaliser in the closing stages.
