Video nasty for Town’s players

TOWN boss Gary Brabin admits the Blue Square Bet Premier defeat to Barrow is still weighing on the players mind ahead of tomorrow’s FA Trophy quarter-final clash with Gateshead, writes Mike Simmonds.

Hatters went down to a hugely disappointing 1-0 defeat at Holker Street on Tuesday and Brabin was putting his squad through a video nasty session in preparation for the Tynesiders clash.

He said: “I wouldn’t say we’re well and truly over it.

“Certainly things have settled things down a little bit, we’re certainly disappointed with the result and the performance.

“We certainly won’t be banishing it from our mind, we always do video analysis whether it be good or bad which we’ll have.

“We’ll pick out good bits and bad bits but I can promise you there’s no good bits.

Hatters aren’t the only top-six club to come unstuck at Barrow as both Fleetwood and Wrexham have gone down to defeats.

Brabin continued: “They beat both Wrexham and Fleetwood at their place, they haven’t lost to any of the top sides.

“It is a tough place to go, but the major disappointment was that at worse I should have been having this conversation with you now about a 0-0 draw.

“It was a below par performance and the fact that we’ve been beat makes matters worse, but we’ve got to move on from that.

“We still believe we’re going to catch the top two but we’ve made that even harder for ourselves.

Although not ruling out a title challenge, Brabin did give his first hints that the club are concentraing on consolidating their play-off position.

He said: “I think the good thing about the play-offs is we’re still on for promotion. We’re on course and still on track, that’s the way we’ve got to look at it.

“We want to win every game, that hasn’t changed, and we’re relying on them to slip up.

“Its made it even harder after Tuesday’s result as they’ve got another win each, but nothing’s changed.

“The big thing is, we haven’t lost sight and lost focus on what we’re doing.”
