Keeper Elliot Justham admitted his league debut for the Hatters had been a long time in coming.
The 24-year-old was snapped up by Luton from East Thurrock United in May 2013, where had also been working on the London Underground.
An injury to regular number one Mark Tyler saw Justham thrust into the starting line-up against AFC Wimbledon.
He said: “I was aware I might start and I’m really happy as I’ve been waiting 18 months for my league start.
“It was very nice to play, but I was just absolutely gutted with the result.
“I thought at 2-2 there was only one team going to win it, unfortunately we couldn’t get the goal.”
Justham had been aware that Tyler was struggling with a knee injury, but was grateful the experience stopper was on hand to offer some valuable advice at Kingsmeadow.
