Wall and Walker looking to start against Crawley

Hatters duo Alex Wall and Charlie Walker are hoping their impressive forays off the bench on Saturday could see them start in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Crawley Town tonight.

Wall, who did his claims no harm at all by scoring Town’s late winner with virtually his first touch, said: “A start on Tuesday would be what I’m aiming for. Every week is what I’m aiming for.

“It’s down to the gaffer he knows what he’s doing so will leave that down to him.

“He sent me on with a job to do (on Saturday) and I was just lucky I was in the right position.

“It came straight away and I was happy to get on the end if it and put it in. That’s what I’m there to do and hopefully I can show the gaffer I can do that week in week out which I know I can.

“I’m just grateful for the opportunity and the the three points were the most important thing.”

Walker also was quick to catch the eye in his cameo, and may well have had his first goal but for the linesman not to rule it had crossed the line.

When asked if he could start against the Red Devils, he said: “I’d like to think so.

“I’ll just keep doing my best best and give the gaffer some problems, hope he puts me in and see what happens.”

The former Peacehaven forward feels like he is ready to push on now after being made to wait for his debut by manager John Still.

He added: “This is what I’ve been waiting for since I signed, it’s taken a while, I’ve had to settle in and I feel like I’ve settled in well.

“I just need to get on and play now. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, coming in from non-league, feels like it’s taken a bit of time.

“But now I’m ready to get in there and start scoring hopefully.”
