Hatters duo Adam Watkins and Greg Taylor have both left the club on loan today joining Kidderminster Harriers and Tamworth for a month respectively, writes Mike Simmonds.
Watkins has made only two starts this campaign, his last coming in the 3-0 defeat at Alfreton Town, while Taylor has played eight times, with his last start also in the loss against Alfreton.
Manager Paul Buckle said: “They were pushed through this morning. I’m pleased, pleased for them, as I looked at it thinking do I, don’t I?
“It’s a tough call as you don’t want players not playing. We haven’t got a development game for a couple of weeks and you don’t want to leave yourself short.
“But at the same time, I feel with what (Alex) Lawless has done in the middle of the park and JJ (O’Donnell) and (Jake) Howells, that we’ve got enough cover there.
“So Adam goes out for a month to get some football in, do well and hopefully get his place back in the team, same with Greggers.
“It’s important that I have a clear picture in my mind for all the players, it keeps it nice and healthy. They weren’t forced to go out, nothing like that, we all feel it’s right.”
On his move, Taylor tweeted: “Hopefully wont be the end of my Luton career. Looking forward to playing games and regaining my confidence!”
While Watkins also took to Twitter to say: “Time to go and play some football #newchallenge.”
Harriers boss Steve Burr was pleased to bring in a player of Watkins quality as he added: “We’ve managed to get Adam in and he’s someone I’ve worked with before in the England C team so I know what he’s about.
“He’s a good footballer with a lot of energy and he has played a lot of games at this level for a lad of such a young age.
“I know what he can bring - he links up well with the forwards from the middle of the park and I am looking forward to working with him.”
