Wilder unfazed by Hatters speculation

Northampton boss Chris Wilder isn’t paying too much attention to being made the bookies favourite for the vacancy at Kenilworth Road yesterday.

The 48-year-old saw his odds slashed to 7/2 by league sponsors Sky Bet, after masterminding the Cobblers’ climb to the top of the table recently with a 4-3 win at Luton, despite huge off-field issues at Sixfields.

However, Wilder has been heavily linked with the top jobs at Cambridge United and Chesterfield recently and speaking about the rumours to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo this morning, he said: “It’s the same old, and it’s obviously because we are doing well.

“As I have said regarding our players too, I would rather be this way because we are doing well, than not.

“It is a case of head down and carrying on.”
