Woodrow nets on his Three Lions bow

HATTERS starlet Cauley Woodrow scored England U17s’ equaliser on his debut as they drew 1-1 with Romania in their Algarve opener in Lagos this afternoon (Thursday).

Trailing to Gabriel Iancu’s 25th-minute opener Woodrow levelled on 44 minutes to earn the Three Lions a point.

The 16-year-old Luton youngsters played 65 minutes before being withdrawn for Zak Ansah.

Before the game, England head coach John Peacock said he was using the three games in Portugal as preparation for next month’s UEFA European U17 Championship Elite Qualifying Round and he will be pleased with the way his side came from a goal down.

England’s second game in the Algarve is against Germany tomorrow (Friday).
