Wycombe defeat keeps Hatters on top

Luton Town stayed top of the League Two table this evening after Wycombe Wanderers were beaten 3-1 at home by Burton Albion.

A win would have seen Chairboys back at the summit but they fell behind to Phil Edwards’ 39th minute header, while Alex MacDonald made it 2-0 just after half time.

Wycombe pulled one back through Paul Hayes’ 65th minute penalty, only for Albion to get a crucial third when Jacob Blyth netted as new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink tasted success in his first game in charge.

The result saw Wanderers stay in third place, while Burton, who Hatters travel to this weekend, climbed to fourth.
