Luton will head to Hungary for training camp

Hatters have revealed they will head to Hungary for a pre-season training camp in early July.

In a change from recent seasons, where Town have flewn out to Portugal, boss Nathan Jones will take his squad to Hungary for a week from Sunday, July 3, while they will also play a fixture against a local side too.

Speaking to the club’s official website. Jones said: “The trip to Hungary will be perfect, the temperatures there should be less stifling than in Portugal where the club have been in recent seasons – this will allow the lads to work hard in more comfortable conditions.

“The facilities there look fantastic. It is the Hungarian equivalent of the FA’s St George’s Park and we will be able to combine some core fitness work with plenty of ball work too and if we can find a fixture then that will allow the squad to have their first 45 minutes of match action.

“Once we get back to England the plan is that we can increase the intensity of training and matches as we head towards the big kick-off on August 6.

“We want to arrive at the first league game fit and rearing to go and I think this pre-season schedule will enable us to do just that – I am really looking forward to it already.”
