Molten Spartan SML round-up: Daly double sends Kent into Trophy semi-finals

Kent Athletic saw off Belstone 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the Molten Spartan SML Anagram Records Trophy on Saturday.

Kent started well and controlled the game until the 26th-minute when Belstone scored against the run of play with their first effort, L Higgs on target.

This spurred Kent on and they equalised after half an hour with a well taken goal by Pat Daly.

In the second half chances were missed by both sides as Kent began to control the game.

Adam Currington headed in from a corner with 10 minutes to go before Daly netted his second two minutes from time to earn Kent a semi-final place where they will meet either Sporting Hackney or Wormley Rovers.

Totternhoe went down to a 2-0 home defeat to Hale Leys United in Division Two, Tom Brindley doubling up for the visitors on 28 and 30 minutes, while The 61 FC (Luton) suffered the same fate at Wolverton Town with J Waites (32) and R Howell (88) on target.

AFC Dunstable Reserves, in their fight to stave off relegation from Reserve Division One, recorded their second win on the bounce with a 3-0 victory over local rivals The 61FC.

Goals from James Baldry, Anthony Leslie and Ryan Cole secured the points, while in Reserve Division Two Crawley Green Res beat Winslow United Res 1-0.

This Tuesday The 61 FC (Luton) Res go to Hoddesdon Town Res in Reserve Division One, Saturday sees Crawley Green host Kentish Town in Division One and Kent Athletic entertain The 61 FC (Luton) in Division Two, Reserve Division One sees AFC Dunstable Res face Oxhey Jets Res and The 61 FC (Luton) Res take on Baldock Town Res, while in Reserve Division Two Totternhoe Res are at home to Mursley United Res and Crawley Green Res visit Wolverton Town Res, while the following Tuesday Kent Athletic Res head to Holmer Green Res in Reserve Division One.
