Molten Spartan SML round-up: Kent come from behind to stun The 61 FC (Luton)

A hat-trick from Jason Penman and a Simon Richards strike earned Kent Athletic a 4-3 victory at The 61 FC (Luton) in round one of the Division Two Cup on Saturday.

The hosts had led 3-1 through goals from Chris Mapp (17) and Pat Downes (27) plus an Arron Lewis penalty a minutes into the second half.

Penman had levelled at 1-1 with an 18th-minute penalty and, after Simon Richards had pulled a goal back on 55 minutes, he levelled with a penalty six minutes from time and scored the winner two minutes later.

The Division Two encounter between Totternhoe and Caddington, meanwhile, was postponed as Caddington have withdrawn from the league.

Reserve Division One saw AFC Dunstable lose 4-2 at Hoddesdon Town, Kent Athletic beat Stotfold 1-0 thanks to Craig Piper’s with the goal and The 61 FC (Luton) triumph 1-0 at Kings Langley.

Meanwhile, in Reserve Division Two, Crawley Green thrashed Aston Clinton 5-1, thanks to a hat-trick from Aaron Wilson and goals from Rob Newman and Aaron Coulson.

This Saturday Totternhoe host Pitstone & Ivinghoe in the first round of the Division Two Cup, while in the league The 61 FC (Luton) go to Brimsdown.
