Molten Spartan SML round-up: Kent through in cup as The 61 FC and Totternhoe triumph

Kent Athletic progressed into the semi-finals of the Molten Spartan SML Division Two Cup with a 3-0 victory over Old Bradwell United.

Both cancelled each other out in an uneventful first half as the best chances fell to Old Bradwell, but they failed to convert.

With subs on, Kent assumed control and took the lead through an own goal on 55 minutes.

Pat Daly put Kent ahead on 63 minutes and Adam Currington’s 85th-minute penalty secured victory, while Adam Mace denied Old Bradwell in the dying minutes with the save of the game to keep a clean sheet.

In Division Two, The 61 FC (Luton) came from behind to triumph 2-1 against Aston Clinton.

Neil Roberts put the visitors ahead on 50 minutes, before the Luton side won it with two quickfire goals from Chris Mapp (72) and Liam Irons (78).

Totternhoe romped to a 5-0 victory over Tring Corinthians thanks to Ross Morrissey’s sixth-minute opener and four from Ryan Smith (11, 48, 69 and 82).

In Reserve Division One AFC Dunstable’s game at London Colney was postponed.

The 61 FC (Luton) Res crashed out of the third round of the Bedfordshire Intermediate Cup with a 6-1 thrashing at Lewsey Park, but there was penalty shoot-out joy for Kent Athletic Res and Crawley Green Res.

Kent drew 1-1 at Biggleswade United Res winning the shoot-out 4-3, while Bromham United held Crawley Green Res 2-2, before the Maroons won 4-3 in the shoot-out.

Crawley fought back from 2-0 down with goals from skipper Jamie Sawyer and Aaron Wilson, before Jordan Bates, Sawyer, Anthony Wright and Charlie Betts converted in the shoot-out to see the Maroons into the next round.

This Saturday Kent host Kings Langley in the second round of the Challenge Trophy, in Division Two The 61 FC (Luton) are at home to Grendon Rangers and Totternhoe entertain Brimsdown.

Reserve Division Two sees Crawley Green home to Stony Stratford Town, while in the Reserve Challenge Trophy The 61 FC (Luton) go to Wodson Park in the first round and Kent visit Aston Clinton in the second round.
