Molten Spartan SML round-up: Mapp’s goal in vain as The 61FC (Luton) are knocked out

The 61FC (Luton) were well beaten 5-1 at Southall in the first round of the Molten Spartan SML Challenge Trophy on Saturday.

Jean-Claude Yeboua hit a quickfire brace (22 and 24) alongside strikes from Sacha Petshi (26), Youssef Sofiane (47) and Aaron Samuel (80) as Chris Mapp’s goal was mere consolation for the visitors.

Reserve Division One saw AFC Dunstable lost 4-2 at home to Risborough Rangers, Kent Athletic draw 2-2 at Baldock Town and The 61FC (Luton) go down 4-1 at home to Kings Langley, while in Reserve Division Two Crawley Green thrashed Wolverton Town 5-0.

Kent Athletic came from behind to beat Langford 3-1 in the first round of the Bedfordshire Senior Trophy on Saturday.

Division One Langford took the lead in the third minute when Ellis King finished a good move.

An equal contest ensued before Shipla Miah caught the Langford keeper off his line two minutes before the break as he lobbed home from 25 yards.

Substitute Jason Penman’s through ball enabled Pat Daly to put Kent ahead on 72 minutes and, although Langford created several chances, Penman secure victory in the fourth minute of stoppage time with a third for Kent.

Totternhoe lost out 2-0 to Bedford on penalties after extra-time had finished 1-1. Ryan Smith had put the Totts ahead on 31 minutes with Jason Cole levelling from the spot eight minutes from time.

This Saturday Totternhoe head to Brimsdown in Division Two, The 61 FC (Luton) go to New Bradwell St Peter and Kent Athletic visit Willen.

In Reserve Division One Kent Athletic entertain AFC Dunstable and The 61 FC (Luton) host London Lions, while in Reserve Division Two Crawley Green visit Biggleswade United and Totternhoe are home to Old Bradwell United.
