Molten Spartan SML round-up: Workmanlike Kent claim victory

Kent Athletic progressed through the first round of the Molten Spartan SML Anagram Records Trophy on Saturday with a workmanlike 3-0 victory over Essex side Manford Way.

Michael Moss worked hard and James Niederman put Kent ahead with his first goal for the club on 17 minutes from Pat Daly’s lay-off.

Bradley Currington fired home a loose ball inside the area on 25 minutes and Daly sealed the 3-0 victory five minutes into the second half with their third.

Keeper Adam Mace then ensured a clean sheet with the save of the game in the last minute.

Totternhoe though crashed out as they went down to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Old Bradwell United.

Division Two saw The 61 FC (Luton) beat Brimsdown 2-0, while in Reserve Division One AFC Dunstable Res thrashed Stotfold Res 5-1 and Kent Athletic Res lost 3-1 at Kings Langley Res, Josh Langlais netting their consolation, while in Reserve Division Two Crawley Green Res defeated Totternhoe Res 3-0 with a brace from Sam Halfpenny and a goal from Aaron Wilson.

This Saturday Totternhoe entertain Mursley United in the first round of the Challenge Trophy, in Division Two The 61 FC (Luton) visit Aston Clinton and Kent Athletic visit Hale Leys United, while Crawley Green Res go to Brickhill Tigers in the Beds Intermediate Cup.
