Town have been priced alongside Leyton Orient at 10/1 to win the title this term by league sponsors Sky Bet, behind Portsmouth (4/1) and Doncaster (13/2).

Nathan Jones’ side are 15/8 to go up as well, and when asked who he thought will challenge at the top end, Mullins, who made the move to Kenilworth Road recently after captaining Oxford to League One last term, said: “I think you’ve got the regular faces, obviously Portsmouth will be fancied again, Plymouth, I’m sure Doncaster have made some really good additions too, you just never know.

“We’re looking at ourselves, if we start well, get enough points then no-one else really matters.”

On just what is required to have a promotion-winning campaign, Mullins continued: “Everyone together which is something the gaffer mentioned quite a bit.

“It would be nice to get off to a good start and from there you can kick on.

“With the squad that we have, if we get it right which I’m sure that we will, then we’ll be fine.”

Even though he has only been with the squad a few weeks too, Mullins believes he has every chance of celebrating successive promotions in May.

He added: “Personally I’ve come here to do it again, I’ve got an extra incentive to do it again, to take Luton into League One.

“It’s going to be tough, we all know that, a long old season, but looking at the squad that we have and the way the manager has started, I can’t see any reason why we can’t do it.

“All the lads, they’ve been really good, they’re a real good bunch.

“There’ll be some more additions I’m sure but it is a very good squad, a squad full of quality and a squad that has the same thing in mind and that’s get promoted.”
