The 25-year-old has made 10 appearances since arriving on loan from Leyton Orient on deadline day, as barring his first 90 minutes at Newport County on Tuesday, the rest have come from the bench.

Speaking before 1-1 midweek draw in Wales, Palmer, who has netted one goal in that time, said: “It’s been from the bench so far and you’ve got to try and still do things as much as you can in a short space of time.

“Obviously I want to start games, I came here to play football, and not just come here to sit around and join a promotion party and jump on a bandwagon and make cameo appearances.

“I think you can see I’m willing to work hard, and want to play for the team.

“I want to start games and want to very much be a key player for the team and do what I can to give everything to the club and the boys that have been doing it all season.

“I want to come here and help them out and want to start games.”

Although there has been no news on whether Palmer will make his stay at Kenilworth Road a permanent one next season, the forward is clearly relishing his stint with the club so far.

He added: “For me, the fans have brilliant, they’ve been brilliant to me since I’ve been here, and I’d like to thank them for that.

“The manager’s been fantastic with me, trying to develop me.

“He’s brought me here, been full of praise for me, I’m loving it here, so I’ve only got good things to say.

“Now it’s just time to make sure we get promoted.”
