Peacock’s double seals Rovers win

A lively second half performance from Barton Rovers saw them seal their first opening day victory in seven years with a 3-0 win over Chertsey Town on Saturday.

Rovers took the lead from the spot on 21 minutes when James Bent won and converted the penalty.

Chertsey then missed a spotkick of their own as Richard Wilmot saved from Tommy McGarry.

Barton then put their opponents to the sword in the second half with Nat Peacock netting twice to seal the victory.

Rovers travel to Woodford United tomorrow evening.
