Potts believes Hatters have that play-off vibe

Hatters defender Dan Potts believes his side are starting to firmly believe that the play-offs are within their reach this season.

When boss Nathan Jones was appointed in January, Luton looked well adrift, trailing the top seven by nine points, sitting way back in 17th place.

However, Saturday’s 1-0 win at Leyton Orient, coupled with AFC Wimbledon’s 3-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night, means Hatters, in 12th, are now just a mere three points behind the play-offs places.

Potts said: “You look at it and think 12th is still a way off but I looked at the table and it’s not.

“It’s three points, so we’re getting there, game by game.

“You only had to be in that dressing room afterwards (on Saturday) to feel the vibe.

“If you see the gaffer after the game, we’re starting to look above us to the play-offs and above that.

“If we keep going the way we are, we’ll take some stopping.”

Although Jones played down the importance of the Orient game before kick off, Potts felt the players knew just how pivotal a fixture it was to stay firmly in the chasing pack.

He continued: “We’ve won three on the bounce leading up to this game, but it’s fair to say all the lads knew this was a big game, massive, especially away from home.

“The onus was probably on them and it was a different type of performance to maybe what you might have been used to with the gaffer.

“But they’re the ones you need, the 1-0 aways, the clean sheets, they’re going to get us where we want to be.

“If we keep ticking them off, we’ll be there or thereabouts come the end.”
