An early strike from Zack Reynolds saw Dunstable Town extend their unbeaten Southern League Premier Division run to six games as they saw off Dorchester Town at Creasey Park on Saturday.

With goalkeeper Jamie Head returning to the club after Paul Bastock’s departure and new signing Gedeon Okito on the bench, the Blues made a promising start, taking the lead after just eight minutes.

David Keenleyside chased down a loose ball and found Reynolds, whose opportunistic effort found the top corner, after keeper Alan Walker-Harris misjudged the flight of the ball.

Blues pushed for a second, Danny Talbot’s corner striking the underside of the bar, before Dorchester were also denied by the woodwork as Nathan Walker’s header rebounded to safety.

Ben Watson and Neil Martin had efforts for the visitors, but Dunstable’s defence held firm, with James Kaloczi delivering a fine performance at the back for the hosts.

After the break, Chris Vardy was off target for Dunstable, while Connor Calcutt looked lively too, with Adam Watkins shooting straight at Walker-Harris.

Reynolds then went on a fine run which saw the visiting keeper make an excellent stop, while Watkins blazed over the top, before Head made two fine saves late on to ensure Dunstable came out on top.

Dunstable Town are now sixth in the table, level on points with Hitchin who occupy the final play-off berth, but stay behind the Canaries on goal difference.

The Blues host Stratford Town tomorrow night and then entertain Cambridge City this weekend.
