Rovers earn FA Youth Cup trip to Kenilworth Road

Barton Rovers earned themselves a trip to Kenilworth to face Luton Town in the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup next Wednesday, after thrashing Rothwell Corinthians 7-2 on Friday night.

Barton took the lead through Munya Jaravaza’s fine solo strike, who then went on to score their second goal six minutes later.

Rovers made it 3-0 on the half-hour with a well-worked goal by Mahmut Caglar.

Caglar scored again two minutes later, while Rovers were forced into a change at the break, debutant Rob Norman replaced by Gabriel Sanni.

Sloppy defending allowed Rothwell to hit back when keeper Aaron Foulton’s clearance rebounded into the net off Rothwell’s front man.

Norman extended Rovers’ superiority with a well-taken effort, before then giving away a penalty, which Foulton saved, only for the visitors to net the rebound.

Despite taking their foot off the gas Ryan King made it 6-2 with a fine strike on 70 minutes and Jaravaza rounded off his hat-trick five minutes later.
