Rovers ease past Ampthill in Beds Senior Cup

Barton Rovers made progress to the Beds Senior Cup quarter-finals as they hammered Ampthill Town 5-1 on Tuesday night.

Rovers were ahead on 22 minutes as Connor Vincent scored, while Ben Sawyer made it 2-0 10 minutes before the break.

In the second period, Rovers added a third through Jhai Dhillon and were denied a fourth by the woodwork soon afterwards.

Anthony Ottaway added the fourth when his long range shot went through the Ampthill keeper and Ricky Young made it 5-0 in the 85th minute.

Ampthill mounted some late pressure as Charlie Kawalie and Sheldon Washington went close, before Charlie Cullen scored a consolation in the final minutes as he volleyed home.

Rovers, who are without a game this weekend, will travel to AFC Dunstable in the next round.
