Rovers face FA Cup replay with Northwood

Barton Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by Northwood in their FA Cup first round qualifying clash on Saturday.

After putting eight past Staines Lammas in the previous round, Barton started well as Nat Peacock’s header was saved by Danny McNicholas.

The visitors had chances too though when George Nicholas headed over and they should have been ahead on 37 minutes as they awarded a penalty, only for Dave Lawrence to miss the target.

In the second period, Barton took the lead on 80 minutes when Keshi Anderson’s cross was turned by in by substitute Tony Burnett.

However, Northwood earned a replay when Nicholas beat Kyle Forster to a long ball forward and slotted into the empty net.

The two sides will now meet again on Tuesday night for a place in the next round.
