Rovers fall short against Kings Langley

Barton Rovers put in a battling performance against high flying Kings Langley on Saturday but still came away empty handed.

The visitors took the lead on nine minutes when a long ball over the top found Rovers defence in disarray as Immanuelson Duku latched on and slotted past the on rushing Kyle Forster.

Barton had a good spell at the other end and were unfortunate not to get back on level terms from a series of corners led to goalmouth pin ball but the pressure was stifled by the visiting defence.

Lucas Perry had the best effort of the half for Barton but his final shot was safely held by visiting keeper Xavi Comas.

The second half was a close encounter with both teams looking for the result from the game.

The industrious Alex O’Brien had a good effort fall just wide midway through before Forster was called into action at the other end to keep the deficit down to just the one.

As Rovers pressed more and more things became stretched at the back and on 87 minutes David Hutton converted a soft penalty for Langley to seal the point.

Next up for The Rovers are consecutive away trips, firstly a visit to AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday before visiting Cambridgeshire on Saturday to face St Ives Town.

The last two games of the season see Sharpenhoe Rd become the temporary home of Northwood FC on Tuesday 19th before finishing a very lack lustre season hosting Potters Bar.

Rovers are still not clear of relegation trouble either, as they are six points above second bottom Leighton Town.
