Rovers snap up ex-Spurs and Arsenal youngster

Barton Rovers have signed former Spurs and Arsenal youngster Anton Blackwood from Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division side St Albans City.

The 21-year-old began his career at the Emirates, before moving to Spurs, but was released without playing a game for either side.

He is also a full international, playing once for Antigua and Barbuda in their friendly clash with Trinidad & Tobago.

Rovers chief Dan Kennoy said: “It’s a great signing. Anton is a great player but has been unlucky with injuries which have stalled his progress at St Albans.

The addition is a welcome boost to Kennoy’s squad after the departures of Nat Peacock to Bedford Town, Liam McDevitt to Royston Town and Andrew Iwediuno to Biggleswade Town – all within the last fortnight.
