Sheehan was easily won over by Luton boss

A brief chat with new Hatters boss Nathan Jones was enough to convince Alan Sheehan that he wanted to make Kenilworth Road his home for the next few months.

The Bradford City defender joined Luton on loan until the end of the season last week, and was handed an immediate debut for the 2-0 win at Mansfield on Saturday.

Although other clubs had been interested in his signature, after talking to Jones, there was only one destination on Sheehan’s mind.

He said: “I had a conversation with the manager. He told me that he wanted me here, wanted me to be his first signing and after speaking to him for 15 minutes, I spoke to my agent and said ‘look I think this is for me.’

“There had been a lot of talk of me going here and me going there in the last few weeks and after speaking to him, I wanted to come here.

“He’s an ambitious manager and it’s a great start, I believe that we’ve got something good here.

“He’s got a big plan for the club, it’s going to take time for any manager to implement his style, but when everybody gives 100 per cent out there like they did (against Mansfield), we looked a good side.”

On what else drew him to the Hatters, Sheehan continued: “It’s a big club, with a big fanbase.

“The people involved in the club like Mick Harford, he’s a legend, I’ve always been a big fan of him.

“He’s, and I don’t give this statement out, but he’s a hard man, you look up to people like him.”
