Slip End prepare for Carrow Road final

Slip End claim runners-up sport as they ready for Carrow Road final

Slip End United finished off a fine season with a comprehensive 7-1 victory over fourth-placed Barrel Magnum to clinch runners-up spot in Division Three of the North Home Counties Sunday League.

In doing so they reached 104 league goals from their 22 games as every outfield player notched during the season.

After a steady start Rory Nagle rounded the keeper to tap home on 20 minutes, while goals from Chris Homer and another from Rory Nagle quickly followed.

Slip End dominated after the break and, despite some wasteful finishing, extended their lead through a Cam Nagle header and a lovely bicycle kick volley from 15 yards by Carl Inns.

Rory Nagle completed his hat-trick as he became Slip End’s top scorer in his first season with 34 goals.

Craig Wall then headed home Carl Inns’ cross to make it seven as Barrels could only muster a late reply.

Slip End now look forward to the final of the Ted Zipfel Trophy against Thetford Rovers at Carrow Road, home of Premier League Norwich City next Saturday.
