SML round-up: Wolverton Town tamed as Kent claim another win on a good day for our teams

A brace from Jason Penman, plus goals from Craig Meyrick and Reeon Wiltshire saw Kent Athletic beat Wolverton Town 4-0 in Molten Spartan SML Division Two on Saturday.

Kent Athletic started brightly and took the lead on 18 minutes when winger Wiltshire was brought down in their penalty area and Jason Penman scored from the penalty spot.

The hosts continued to impose themselves and doubled their lead two minutes before the break when Wiltshire scored at the second attempt after a positive run into the box.

Kent continued to control the game as Penman made it three with his second on 54 minutes and they wrapped up victory with seven minutes to go through Meyrick’s first goal of the season.

Keeper Nick Gardner only had one important save to make all game, while there were also good performances from Alex Bennett and debutant James Neiderman.

Caddington lost 4-2 at home to Aston Clinton, despite leading through Nathan Brinkley’s strike on the cusp of half time.

Kevin Mealor’s brace (47 and 50) put the visitors ahead and Peter Weirich’s (58 and 88) sealed victory, but was punctuated by Jaimee Allen’s 65th-minute goal.

The 61FC (Luton) won 4-0 at Old Bradwell United thanks to a hat-trick from Pat Downes (18, 25 and 60) and a goal from Kevin McManus (22).

Darren Edwards’ third-minute opener and Ryan Smith’s brace (15 and 42) earned Totternhoe a 3-0 at Tring Corinthians.

The game between Hadley Res and Kent Athletic Res in Reserve Division One was postponed, while The 61FC (Luton) Res lost 2-1 at home to Cockfosters Res.

Crawley Green Res beat Mursley United Res 5-4 and Totternhoe Res defeat Tring Corinthians Res 5-2.

This Saturday Totternhoe host Caddington in Division Two, while in round one of the Division Two Cup The 61 FC (Luton) are at home to Kent Athletic.

Reserve Division One sees AFC Dunstable Res head to Hoddesdon Town Res, Kent Athletic Res host Stotfold Res and The 61 FC (Luton) Res visit Kings Langley Res, while in Reserve Division Two Crawley Green Res entertain Aston Clinton Res.
