Sunday Football round-up: Seven Up Go Bowling strike Jack Jones Cup success

Go Bowling returned to winning ways with a convincing 7-0 win over Heath FC in the fourth round of the Leighton & District Sunday League Jack Jones Cup.

This quarter-final tie was never in doubt as Bowling took the lead after five minutes through Luke Blackburn.

Louis Aslam and Jake Hansard then both hit 25-yarders within five minutes of each other to make it 3-0 at half time.

With Adrian Millard running the game, second half goals by Kerry Smith, Matt Conway, Henry Steele and a goal of the season contender from referee’s man of the match Millard, which saw him beat five men as he raced from the halfway line, sealed Bowling’s semi final place.

Slip End United Res continued their fine run of form and remained top of the South Beds Sunday League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wigmore Sports.

Wigmore applied early pressure only for Matt Childs in the Slip End goal to keep the visitors at bay with two fine saves.

United took the lead five minutes into the second half when Carl Inns’ raking 40-yard pass released Josh French who clinically beat the onrushing keeper,

Despite more pressure from Slip End, Wigmore scored a cracking goal on the counter-attack to level the scores.

Fine saves at either end kept the scores equal until Grant Mitchell fired in a 20-yard effort into the bottom corner.
