The Hatters’ players will be roared on by 1,810 visiting fans at the Hive and Jones was left flabbergasted to find out about such a following.

When told of the numbers travelling, he said: “I don’t expect anything different, but it gives me goosebumps that, 1,800 to take away down there, we’ll fill that end, what a great occasion.

“It’s unbelievable, just outstanding. I saw Portsmouth there the other day and they must have taken about 1,400, 1,500, so we’re taking more than them, that’s just phenomenal.

“But that’s just the club, that’s the fans, that’s what we have. We don’t take it for granted, we’re proud of it and it’s just phenomenal, it really is.”

Town’s visiting supporters have enjoyed following their side on the road recently, with Jones masterminding five wins from six games away from Kenilworth Road.

He admitted there was something special about away day successes too, adding: “Your fans are your lifeblood, we’ve said that and again reiterated the point that we want to give them a team they can be proud of.

“I think we’re getting there and making steps to do that and the away fans, when they travel, the money they spend, and not the inconvenience as it’s a day out at times, but the away wins really really feel special.

“Those who travel away regularly have been rewarded lately and we hope to do that against because it’s a special feeling when you go to someone’s back garden and take the points.

“That’s an extra special feeling for the players and they feed off the energy the fans give them and I get that myself, I like that.

“We’re looking forward to Monday and more so now hearing the numbers we’re going to take.”
