A brace from BJ Christie, sandwiched either side of Kyle Lincoln’s strike, saw AFC Dunstable to a 3-0 victory over London Colney in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division on Saturday.

Christie gave AFC the lead on 14 minutes and the hosts made sure of victory with late goals from Lincoln (75) and Christie (80).

Against a good Colney side AFC managed to dominate most of this game with a competent all-round performance as Dale Turney, Craig Butler and Jonno Barnett controlled the midfield.

AFC threatened a couple of times before Christie latched on to Lincoln’s pass set to fire AFC into the lead after 20 minutes.

Colney continued to compete, but whenever they were able to break through the middle they found centre-backs Jim Ryan and Dan Baldry in great form as the visitors were denied any clear-cut opportunities.

AFC showed signs of stepping up the pace further in the second half, and their task was made easier when the Colney keeper was dismissed for handling the ball outside the area.

And AFC doubled their lead on the hour when a great ball in from Courtney Massey was expertly finished by Lincoln.

The hosts were now playing flowing, keep-ball football and it was no surprise when Christie completed his third brace in three league matches with a neat finish from inside the box as AFC went second in the embryonic table.

Boss Alex Butler added: “The new boys have now settled in and we are playing high quality entertaining football, which I believe we will maintain and have every chance of leading to a promotion challenge.

“I would urge local football fans and Luton Town supporters who cannot get to away fixtures to come and have a look at a good level of football being provided at a great £3million facility here at Creasey Park.”

AFC head to Oxhey Jets on Tuesday, host Leverstock Green on Saturday and visit Hertford Town on Tuesday week.
