“We needed to match their pace and unsettle them. We failed to hold the lead as we know we can do and twice gave away an equaliser with some slack play.

“Their winner was entirely due to poor anticipation.”

The visitors made a startling start, testing young keeper Jack Smith and rattling the underside of the bar, before the Blues took the lead when Matt Nolan volleyed home after just five minutes.

The Rams drew level on 33 minutes when when Sam Grayley finished a smart forward move.

Level at the interval, Dunstable made use of the favourng wind and regained the lead on 56 minutes when Leon Cashman converted following fine work from Tony Burnett.

The ever-dangerous Lee Roache then evaded the offside trap but, with only the keeper to beat, he fired straight at the advancing Michael Pearce.

Cashman was denied by an outstretched leg before Beaconsfield rallied and equalised via Nathan Poutton after 71 minutes.

The game seemed heading for a draw until good work from substitute Ollie Beazley saw him picked out the unmarked Zak Joseph to slot home the last minute winner.

Meanwhile, Fabio Bufano has re-signed for the club.

Dunstable go to Northwood on Tuesday night, on Saturday they head to Chalfont St Peter and on Monday host Royston Town.
