Chalfont started brightly and had a shot sail just wide in the first minute, somewhat of a let off for Rovers.

The game came alive after 15 minutes as Barton had a double chance by Keshi Anderson who watched his curling shot come back off the post.

Then Kev Kilroy shot twice but both were blocked to keep the scores level.

Rovers went into a 1-0 lead on 22 minutes as a great run down the right by Anderson saw his pinpoint cross volleyed home in fine style by Connor Vincent.

The game flowed back and forth until Chalfont levelled through Alan Headley four mins before the break.

The second half was end to end with neither team settling for a point. Rovers keeper Kyle Forster was called into action with two fine saves in quick succession and Chalfont’s keeper Michael McEntegart had to be sharp to keep out Anderson and Kilroy’s shots.

Rovers could have stolen it just before the end but man of the match Anderson’s shot fell wide.

>> Kenny Burr, the catering manager of Barton Rovers, certainly made a splash on Saturday. His chosen charity in his capacity as president of Bedfordshire Bowls was Macmillian Cancer support and Kenny had raised £3,660 through many functions including a cycle ride.

A local businessman heard of Kenny’s efforts and challenged him to push his target past the £4,000 mark at his last fundraising night – and if he did, he would make it up to £5,500 with the proviso that Kenny took the ice bucket challenge.

Kenny raised more than £650 at Friday’s race night at Barton to trigger the ice bucket challenge at Rover’s home game on Saturday.

The cheque will be presented to MacMilllan in the next couple of weeks.
