Woeful Rovers destroyed by Burnham

Barton Rovers 1 Burnham 6

Barton Rovers’ six-game home winning streak came to an abrupt halt on Saturday as they were given a footballing lesson by Burnham who triumphed 6-1 at Sharpenhoe Lane in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central.

The visitors took the lead on five minutes with a 30-yard thunderbolt from James Dobson. Rovers levelled on 10 minutes when Jermaine Hall calmly slotted home from a tight angle.

However, Burnham were back in front on 33 minutes when Ryan Bird headed past Richard Wilmot.

Staforde Palmer made it 3-1 just before the break to leave Rovers deflated at half time.

Burnham cashed in on Barton’s lacklustre second half display with further goals from Tom Willment (59), Bird (65) and Aaron Couch (90).

Tonight, Barton visit Chertsey.
