George backed to take out journeyman Dwyer

JOURNEYMAN Tamao Dwyer has been named as Bobby George’s opponent for his third professional fight at Wembley Arena on Saturday night, writes Mark Wood.

The 28-year-old Bulgarian Olympic bronze medallist, real name Boris Georgiev, will be fighting on the same card as Commonwealth and British Heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora and challenger Tyson Fury, who has been preparing for the bout in Luton and performed a public workout recently at The Mall.

Shamrock trainer Mervyn Turner is in no doubt that George will prove too good for the 27-year-old Mancunian lightweight who lost his last bout in June 2010 after starting his pro career with two wins and a draw.

Turner said: “He is a good kid and we are looking to do things. It’s a good step up and a straightforward journeyman for him. I don’t see it going the distance. I think both of them will go at it.”

The fight will be six rounds of three minutes and Turner is hoping that his fight will be featured later on Channel 5 who are broadcasting the main event live at 10pm.

George claimed a points victory over Billy Smith in Northern Ireland last month after winning his pro debut in Portsmouth back in June 2009.
